v shaw works in the harvard soc department
That Harvard gig is a dead-end, glorified TA. I know someone personally who did it for years then one day, Harvard was just like "buh bye we got a new crop of TAs with PhDs" and they were out of the job.
how r bug and sttevenson "basically blacklisted in SOC"? both work in MRM soc departments with PhD programs..
Bugg has to publish in the same journal that publishes R. R. and Hughey after their scandals. what does that tell you about her position in SOC?
I'm aware of publication by Stevenson being denied on account of her association with Wilkins etc.
They were both hired for those jobs before any scandals/controversy.
im not saying she has a good gig, but clearly hasn't been blacklisted from soc as a previous poster claimed.
beyond that, bug and stevenson work in PhD granting soc programs. so clearly not blacklisted either.

bug and stevenson will most likely be tenured by their departments.

Stevenson is at least an intelligent and competent scholar even if she is not exactly a deeply sociological thinker contributing anything interesting or original. If she receives tenure from her department it would just show that the rape culture typified by Wilkins still rules the roost and it would be a major warning sign (I would personally start warning all graduate students to stay away from the department and anyone associated with it if that happened).
I don't know you could claim Buggs would likely be tenured, though. Compare publications by these two professors. Buggs is very close to presenting herself a mediocre high school student. Her social media presence is basically that of an adult with a severe learning disability. She already goes out of her way to draw attention to herself in ways that have reflected badly on the department and her department chair has repeatedly had "talks" with her about this. If Buggs actually received tenure it would discredit FSU's department in an intellectual/scholarly sense and they would be immediately considered the joke of the discipline, and downgraded to LRM. Actually credible scholars have been denied tenure and I'm not aware of any tenured sociologist who is anywhere near as bad as Buggs.
i am not saying bugg and stevenson are anything special, or even good scholars in the case of bug. but it is exceedingly likely stevenson will be tenured and FSU just covered up research fraud for one of their b/lack faculty in another department- i doubt they would deny tenure to a b/lack female scholar so long as she has X number of pubs. i dont think twitter posts are factored into the tenure decision at all, and we all know that b/lack scholars are held to a different/lesser standard when it comes to tenure. it would be a shock if she were denied, even if she should be.

How could FSU be any more discredited than they already are, having recently ig/nored the fact that Eric Stewart’s entire career is based on habitual research misconduct leading to multiple retractions?

So do you think R. R. will get tenure at UT Austin?
A WoC scolded me when i introduced myself at a conferenve because I liked her work. She cut me speaking (I was introducing myself), and literally told me to email her if I have any questions angrily and ended the conversation right there. She thinks it was activism right there to scold a graduate student who liked her work.

This. That University has no integrity and no credibility anymore.

Maybe replace “WoC” with “anti-social b! t/c/h” in order not to be ra/cis/t.

Of course he will, if he meets the bare minimum bar. If he doesn’t meet it, they’ll give him an extension, or he’ll easily hop to another job.
Buggs used hate speech online and was involved in coordinated threats and harassment in retaliation after her UT friend (V Shaw) was reported to police in Texas for sexual battery in order to intimidate the victim against speaking out.
Buggs is presently under FBI investigation for involvement in hate crime motivated by gender and race bias, and this can be documented. Would that impact her department's decision as to whether granting her tenure would be appropriate or in the interests of the department and its reputation?
