how is talking about a case of research fraud, that has been developing in real time, in which senior scholars, including editors, appear, at best, to be asleep at the wheel "BS"? everyone in criminology is talking about this, many of those criminologists were trained as sociologists, or have a background in sociology, and multiple senior sociologists have commented on the issue as well.
what is happening in soc that is more interesting at the moment? khan's sexual assault research (published in crim journal)? TMCs twitter feed? Buggs' twitter feed? Risman? Post something interesting or provocative and it will generate discussion. minimizing this because it's occurring in a subarea of soc that you don't do seems stupid.

I'm gonna go with "2-3 dudes larping." There isn't anything interesting about the fraud or the people involved, its one group if randos nobody has ever heard of calling out another group of randos nobody ever heard of over a paper nobody was ever going to read. This whole thing is an extended joke on SJMR.
remember when sociology was all up its own butt about how crim was low status within the discipline and acted like it was doing a favor allowing it to hang around, and then all those criminologists got butthurt and mad and went and started their own C&CJ departments and now crim has overtaken soc in terms of number of majors and academic jobs? good times.
Sociology will revel in criminology’s scandal. But sociology still has not provided a good answer for how it will address declining majors and hiring lines. Default answer: hate on crim. Hate on crim hate on crim.
