Anybody know when the new data on peer ratings for Crim/CJ programs will be published? The existing ratings seem outdated now given prominent moves and retirements. I know these ratings tend to be sticky, but if they are meaningful they should move quite a bit this time around.
Updated Crim/CJ rankings?

Don't expect a lot of movement. The methodology (based on popular perception) dictates that there are substantial lags in rankings because a lot of the word-of-mouth takes time and relies on crim folks who are better connected.
The Florida programs are a perfect illustration: USF and UCF are both stronger than UF and perhaps even FSU now, but you won't find a lot of senior ASC members who have closely examined the metrics in order to realize that.

UCF is absolutely not stronger than FSU, UF, or even USF. In fact, the program is having a lot of trouble recruiting and retaining qualified students, and has no well-established faculty with reputations strong enough to attract better students.
Thanks for revealing that you have no idea what you're talking about. That is a strong program with good faculty, especially younger scholars. Go look up the CVs.

^ Uh oh, defensive UCF grad student or faculty detected!
Any grad student would be well advised to go to one of the other Florida schools with a well-established reputation. UCF is a brand new program and doesn't have any kind of track record- either mentoring students or placing them.
I'm sure their faculty are fine and competent and able to publish articles, but there is no one on that faculty who has anywhere near the clout of the various faculty at USF, FSU or even UF.

A perfect example supporting my point upthread: the rankings won't move much because perceptions lag behind reality.

Would any of the Florida programs crack the top five? They're OK, but I can't see any strong argument for them being elite, so what's with the focus on a second tier?
FSU did at one time. But that program is trading on a reputation from 20+ years ago. They've had several critical departures and the biggest data fraud scandal in the history of the discipline within the last few years.
-
What critical departures has FSU had other than Baumer? Rubin? Barker? Asking seriously. The ES scandal is a bad look, sure, but even senior faculty in the field didn't much care. Some even actively tried to cover for him.

FSU was already in the top five in the 2018 rankings. With Albany, Cincinnati and UMSL on a downward trajectory, FSU will remain in the top five, if not move up.

Who is on faculty giving USF and UF clout? Akers is now considered honorary at USF, I suspect Krohn is still considered an asset to UF. Since Mike Leiber's passing, Cochran is now in the chair spot at USF. Are there APs on the radar that I've missed?

South Carolina is not on the rise. They have Alpert and no one. Their APs (DIS, KMB, AM) are mediocre at best
Im thinking UMSL, FSU, UF, American, will all drop. SUNY Albany too unfortunately. Risers would be Northeastern, Georgia State, and maybe South Carolina? Irvine might overtake all of the top three.
