We know this. We know that BLM got violent. We�ve had conservative undergrads ask why we can�t have a white pride parade and �what about Black Hebrew Israelites.� We�ve had students defend speakers who are desperately trying to get canceled. We have wealthy Igbo students. Many of us work with psychologists and know why nobody takes BW, Mr. K, NC, OP et. al seriously. Some of whom I suspect are here.
None of this is new to us. You don�t have novel contributions. It�s boring. It isn�t challenging. Granted, you guys might be bright enough to own some undergraduate SJWs on Twitter and Reddit. But for the two sociologists who still visit and actually care to engage here, you�re out of your league. I rarely come here anymore. I check occasionally to see if we have improved. How are you still persisting in this garbage all day, every day, six months later?

You're also responding to points that... *reads entire thread another time*... are not discussed here at all. Or that I've ever seen discussed on SJMR at all, and I visit this site often. Who do you imagine yourself to be talking to? Do you maybe need to see a therapist?

If Reed's points were in fact so well-understood by American sociologists, why haven't they internalized his argument, and changed their strategy away from the methods he criticizes?

You've already made it abundantly clear that you do not know what is happening in US sociology. But I'm sure you've got an eyeballed figure on this too, like your anecdotal Ford Foundation case.

I like Reed but his take is actually pretty simple-minded and outdated. There are sociologists (and others) who discuss this issue more thoughtfully—showing, for example, that although black middle/professional class experiences are quite different for lower-income people (so class is obviously a meaningful differentiating factor even within the black population ), they are also quite different and disadvantaged relative to the white middle/professional class, and even in some ways white working class families (which obviously reinforces the significance of race/racism). In fact, this is pretty intuitive and it really all that complex.

I didn't make the inference. The data is remarkably clear.

The study shows that black women have a higher economic mobility than both black men and white women. The study takes the income of black and white women born of parents in the bottom quintile.

This shows that very few children born to the poorest parents of either race make it to the top 20 percent, and even far fewer will make it to the top 5 percent. But white women born to Q5 parents are nearly a third more likely than their black counterparts to stay in the bottom quintile.

Among those born with parents in Q3, both white and black women are still equally likely to reach the top quintile while white women are a third more likely to fall into the 5th quintile. Among those with parents in the top quintile, though white girls are slightly more likely to stay in the top quintile, they are also more likely to fall from the top into the poorest quintile (15 percent vs. 11 percent for black girls).

What is unclear in that?

It's not what I think or not. It's about what can be extracted from the data. The data, and methods used, do not allow the causal effect that you and the article's title claim.
