You should delete posts with the word retard on them. Only insensitive & offensive idiots use a word like that.

Why was this thread deleted? It was classic, light hearted and should be restoredI'm contacting Kirk about this issue. In the meantime, keep posting threads that have disappeared on:

Some of the missing threads have been restored.

If there was a problem with me saying something to the effect of apparently the search committees did not care, did not read or the paper was correctly listed their CV since a person was offered a job - why was the whole thread (Conventions for listing an ASR comment vs article) deleted, not just my post? I also do not understand why it was deleted. I didn't name the person, and even if I did, I was critiquing something related to that person's professional accomplishments, not personal. Isn't the former allowed, but the latter not? I'm confused because Brayne was named in a particular thread and we discussed why someone would go to UT Austin versus another place (answer, to me, UT Austin is an amazing place to get a job). The rules seem to not be evenly applied...

The rules of the site specify that threads with the potential to harm job candidates are not allowed. Thread mentioning Brayne was focused on a specific department not on her qualifications or personal merits. Do let me know if such messages are posted about any current job candidate. Sometimes I miss them.

Hi all,
If you believe a thread should be deleted please can you reply to this thread and do two things:
1) Provide a link to the thread
2) Provide a short reason why it should be deleted
What will get deleted
- Posts that are too critical of someone's personal life, especially if about other job market candidates. If criticizing others in the profession try to make it about their work.
- Threads with swear words in the title
- Content that is too sexually explicit, especially if not marked NSFW
- Blatant racism, homophobia and sexism. Race and gender issues can be discussed, but threads that aim to provoke unnecessarily will be deleted.
- Duplication or no added value to a recently active post
- Threads with all capital letters in the title
- Copyright infringement
- Complaints about moderation, these should be kept to this thread or emailed to me
- Spamming the board
What may be deleted / or moved
- Threads started in the wrong subforum, particularly if it should have been in off topic
- Obvious / boring trolling. At least make it interesting/amusing if you want to survive.
- Poor jokes & time wasting threads
What won't get deleted
- Posts that you don't agree with but a considerable number of people are ok with. This board allows for open minded discussion, you can't expect to get your way because you are more sensitive than the majority.
What is the spirit of moderation?
- Light touch, you won't notice it unless you are looking to cause trouble.
Want to get in touch?
Send an email to admin@poliscirumors.com and let me know you've emailed by posting below. All emails will be kept confidential.
Please note that there may be some delay before a malicious thread or post is deleted. We will do our best to delete them as soon as possible.
Best
KirkBut I don't see that rule on the list on the first page. Where is that rule?
-
It's a rule to motivate people to share information on the wiki without having to worry that job candidates will be harmed. We made that promise before this job season began and we intend to keep it. Over and out.
Op on different device - ok. I get that, but how is discussing presentation of self via cv harmful? I'm not beating a dead horse for the sake of it Im genuinely curious why it's so harmful to a candidate?

No we didn't make that rule. You keep making up rules. It's a f**king rumor site not a public relations project. Bring back WeberGrillz. At least ze discussed deletions like an adult.

This is absurd. I posted a quote from an interview with a black theologian and dean that was talking about black culture on a black culture website, and it was deleted. Restore the thread.
