He is an idiot, above all else. Can you imagine having him as a student? He’s just like the gingerbread swastika kids EAG tried to take down. (Guessing those kids are all Virginia power elite too.)
Ralph Northam Should Not Be Governor

BF97- a fact that it was only one time, or was it only one time, in a yearbook, and only one time that he got caught? If so I don’t buy it - racist rituals are a treasured cultural tradition among many southern wasps who, ironically, don’t consider themselves racist. They see it as a whimsical way to preserve the blue blood culture. (e.g Rick Perry’s “N**gerhead Famiy Ranch”).

yeah nobody really cares. dude should have known better but was in his early 20s in the 80s, multiple people vetted it so they probably didn't know better either. he apologized for it multiple times and says he's going to do something to wrong this right in office. only people who care are annoying sjws and hand wringing conservatives.

Who is "you all"? I live in VA and voted for Ralph. He's the best governor we've had for a long time. The last guy was a slimy Clinton operative, and the one before that was a criminal. Ralph is a decent human who wore a stupid costume when he was in college nearly four decades ago. I forgive him.

^ medical school. Dressing up in a ‘stupid costume’ is one thing - dressing in Blackface, with your buddy fully-cloaked in Klan-wear - in the state of VA, is an entirely different activity. This wasn’t happening in a vacuum. He should resign right now and be a role mode. Saying sorry and getting to keep your job isn’t really learning.

RE:Should doing something stupid in college disqualify one from elected office? Isn't a grown man who continues to engage in blackface and chickface worse than a grown man who matured out of it?
Exactly. At some point, we have to let people move on beyond stupid things they did in the past. There's a big difference between someone that did stupid, then learned from it and move on, and someone that stays a knucklehead. I would be curious to see how many of those clamoring for him to resign support things like "ban the box" because it holds peoples' past against them.

^Medical school. You’re minimizing the behavior - It’s not like he threw a party in his parents’ basement when they were out of town. You’re saying it’s okay, the same way supporters qualify Trump’s practice of ‘grabbing women by the p**sy’ as locker room talk.

It's not minimizing. It was over 30 years ago. Over that time period, people tend to do things like grow more mature and come to see things differently. No one is saying it's okay. The point is there is an intervening period of more than 30 years there. What kind of a person has he been during and since that time. The key difference between this and Trump, is that Trump continues to be a jackass. He's never shown any type of contriteness or attempted to act differently. When people do stupid stuff, and eventually mature and quit acting in that manner, then establish a pattern of not acting that way, at some point we have to quit holding the things they did over their head decades later.
