Post Oord is a persistent advocate of "Open Theism," which is the antithesis of justified scientific belief. Calvinist foreknowledge and determinism created an intellectual ecology that uniquely allowed the development of modern science. This is a conflict between Wesleyan superstition and modern science, and Oord is on the wrong side of history by about 250 years. And his uni still thought he was too liberal. What does that make them? I know! That's the shocking part. I doubt BYU would fire someone for believing in evolution. They'd probably fire you for being gay, though. http://www.thedailybeast.com/articles/2014/05/13/g-a-y-at-b-y-u.html Holy s**t! According to the article, they actually have this "honor code" pledge that allows the school to expel gay students. And faculty have to take it too. Supposedly, they can't fire faculty for being gay, but they actually fired a male prof after he came out. Basically, if you're gay, avoid BYU. They're awful to gay people. One of my undergraduate advisors is gay and went there for his own undergrad and they gave him shock therapy. They don't do that anymore. But, they still do "pray away gay" type programs. Definitely avoid that place if you are gay. It'll be a miserable experience and you won't be given a fair shot at tenure if you are open about your sexuality.
