Straight up truth. I'm an AP in the low-COL midwest and I'm in no danger of getting a job offer from UCLA. But when you combine the insane traffic with the astronomical cost of living, it just shows how much we'd all be willing to sacrifice for the approval and envy of our peers.

Clearly you’ve never lived in Los Angeles.
Not sure what some people ITT are babbling on about--LA is dope and the traffic around Westwood is nowhere near "bad." In fact, most profs live pretty close to campus and the surrounding neighborhood is awesome with lots of ethnic restaurants, cafes, and bakeries. Even if you lived up in the valley Encino/Northridge area, you would still be within a decent commute of the university.
If anything, she probably would end up making about the same 90K. It seems like the salaries for junior faculty at UCLA range between 85k and 90k. It is very, very unlikely that she would make more than 100k at UCLA before taxes (excluding any research money or benefits).
