Which PhD granting departments would you advise a younger scholar to avoid like the plague if they were offered a position?

Harvard is now like Stanford or Columbia, in terms of overall rates yeah. It's a different ballgame there these days. It's still tenure at full though and except in rare cases it's 12+ years to tenure.
The point is that faculty at Harvard get every opportunity to get tenure there and if they don't, they usually get it somewhere else like NYU pretty easily.
huh? harvard has tenured tons of their own lately. seems to be approaching normal for a top school
