there is a job
Sure, honey.
^ Absolutely untrue. If the choice is between a math, physics, philosophy, history, or sociology PhD, sociology absolutely has the best academic job market of these
If you think otherwise you?re blatantly ignorant of the broader realities of academia. Something like 5% of all physics PhDs get any TT job at all. And if you think the soc market is worse than history, philosophy, or math?s, you?re a knownothing.
the % of PhDs who get TT jobs meani|ng|less number. The % in each discipline getting tt jobs among those trying to get TT jobs is the apt number. And physics and math PhD have fantastic job prospects outside academic compared to soc.
nice shifting the goalposts. the entire discussion has been academic job markets, but nice shifting the goalposts.
you do not know what shifting goal posts mean. the discussion was about a reading list for a math graduate going into sociology. then somebody without reason and without knowledge began talking about the academic job market. why should a discussion about future prospects for PhDs in different disciplines be limited to academic job market?
