He's a computer science professor, his research is literally running on those boxes. It's the equivalent of the draft of his next journal article.
*Of course* they fired a professor who brought a bunch of off-campus folks with bolt cutters onto campus to disrupt a student protest in the middle of the night (one of whom then punched a student).
I hope y'all who think this is some kind of a violation of his rights aren't teaching yet.
"it's the equivalent" is a reach and a half. also, it's university property onto which he was trespassing and that he did so PLANNING for violence to ensue. this dude should be PROSECUTED alongside being fired.
there is no such thing as an academic emergency. wtf kind of unhinged maniac cuts the bolt lock on a building to access a server??? that same research wouldnt have happened 2 days later??
