Is this really shocking?
John Jay College investigation

This is only "shocking" to someone who hasn't observed academic culture in the United States up close. (Or someone lying to cover up reality of the pervasiveness of stuff like this in their profession.)
Academic hierarchies, in general, resemble this regarding their internal rituals. This qualifies as an intense case, but not "shocking" in context of the observable spectrum in academia that I've seen; it's an extreme edge, but predictable. -
Yeah, the fact that it broke in a Rupert Murdoch tabloid and is all over Fox News really gives me pause.
In this metoo moment, in a university run by a liberal black woman, would the university really cover it up if there weren't good reason to seriously question the allegations? They knew the accusers would go right to the tabloid media. What is it the university knows that we don't know? Could they have an exculpatory smoking gun on the rape charges, at least, as the lawyer hints?
I don't know the whole story, but neither does anyone else here. There are enough red flags that I'll wait for the facts to come out in a DA investigation before passing judgement.

Sounds like the profs were a bunch of unprofessional lechers who abused their positions of power. But the rape allegations sound exaggerated to me. I know that's politically incorrect but sorry. Seems more likely that the professors thought they had a submissive, sexually licentious groupie who was interested in consensual sexual activities. Will be interesting to see what kinds of texts and emails she's sent them over the years. Of course none of that excuses any nonconsensual activity, but I smell a rat.
