The amount of cult like advocacy that #greatresignation academics engage in when transitioning to this field is remarkable. Ignoring that nobody ever pressured them to try to make it as a professor, they self-selected into a PhD that is uniquely oriented towards that profession, it's telling that all of these now UX'ers seem to spend an inordinate amount of time trying to recruit others to join their field when it's widely known to be incredibly hard to break into, does not require PhD level research abilities, and increasingly specialized to HFR degree holders. I can't figure out what the angle here is except that UX is either a gigantic ponzi scheme trying to justify it's own existence through organizational bloat or just a bunch of phailures engaging in mass cope. The former would be less pa/th/e/t/ic.
Is UX research just a giant ponzi scheme?

I'm in academia and work at a top 25 uni LOL. I also know plenty of Uxers. this is a silly post. hopefully just for tro//lling or else very very st00pid.
one of the stoopidest posts I've read on here. congratulations.
Tell me more about not making it in academia. -
Talk to industry people. They like UX. They see UX as increasing their market competitiveness. So, using economic language, if they think it is worth it to spend money on UX, it is worth it to them. And the UX people I know make at least 2 or 3 times as much as I do and work fewer hours. Seems like a good deal to me.

I guess OP didn't get the UX job.

you spend time posting unhinged rants on an anonymous forum, but you don't claim to be a phailure. hmm

I have a tenure track job at an R1. I wouldn't need a UX job because I'm not a phailure.Yeah I'm looking at my BMW from my kitchen window that I bought with my summer salary two years ago, have a course release from my grant this semester, and I'm tenured. But you're right, because I made your feels hurt that must mean that I'm unsuccessful.

the UX folks i know can easily afford bmws on their normal salaries, get stock options in addition to their salaries, can work from home, work 6 hour days, and can apply to hundreds of jobs if they dont like the one they have. even r1 profs dont get that. dont hate the players, hate the game.

If you could like, try to overcome that missing chromosome for a second and read, my OP was about the constant shilling of UX by active UX'ers.
