Hi anyone has any experience of being desk rejected by SSM? if yes, how long did it take?
And if you have been reviewed and have published there then I'd appreciate if you could share the experience and the timeframe
Thanks

Hi there sociologist
Thanks for the quick feedback. Curios to know which section of the journal did you submit it to? They have several sections and each section has its own editorial team right? Mine is on health policy.
Well mine says "with editor" and its been like that for 2 weeks now. Although I must admit that after 4 days of submission, I noticed that by mistake I submitted an old version of my manuscript (cos it had identical file name). As I couldn't make changes to the submission, I asked the publishing group to upload the correct file for me.
So, im thinkin that maybe this might further delay it by a week or two?
Did they give you any reasons for rejection? Thanks for sharing again!

I've published several articles there, all of which were sent out for review within a few days.
If you don't hear back by the end of the week, I'd suggest getting in touch with the editorial office. While I haven't had this happen with SSM, I have had articles submitted to other journals get 'lost' in Elsevier's manuscript submission system and significantly delayed.
Hi
I submitted 2 weeks ago. But had to send the correct file via Elsevier only on the 5th day after submission. So basically its been a week since they have the correct manuscript.
On their webpage, it says that initial assessment is usually done within 10 days (which is about 2 weeks excluding weekends). If I don't hear by this Thursday/Friday then I will contact them.
Which area of the journal did you submit your articles to? They have sections A-E dealing with different things within sociology and health...
