SLAC - small or selective liberal arts college. No agreement on whether "small" or "selective" or both should be "true" meaning. Criteria for "selective" is ambiguous. Some insist SLAC be reserved for members of the Selective Liberal Arts Consortium. Others say any liberal arts college known for selectivity is fine.
Directional school - A school whose name is [direction] + [state name] + State University, or something similar. Considered lower than "flagship" school of the state. E.g., Southern Pennsyltucky State University compared to Pennsyltucky State University.
