Since someone asked in another thread:

SLAC - small or selective liberal arts college. No agreement on whether "small" or "selective" or both should be "true" meaning. Criteria for "selective" is ambiguous. Some insist SLAC be reserved for members of the Selective Liberal Arts Consortium. Others say any liberal arts college known for selectivity is fine.

Directional school - A school whose name is [direction] + [state name] + State University, or something similar. Considered lower than "flagship" school of the state. E.g., Southern Pennsyltucky State University compared to Pennsyltucky State University.

The Truth About TMC:

One day, an ordinarily harmless SJMR troll posted a thread called “RIP Shamus.” It was a really bad joke - but then SK’s friends saw the thread, and called him to ask if he was alive.

SK, who hates the SJMR community with a passion (with good reason), then announced on Twitter that he was, in fact, alive, but that he had been soo busy publishing, teaching, and chairing an ivy, that he didn’t have as much time to be tweeting.

TMC, humble bragging, announced to the world her support for her friend, chiming in with: “at least they killed killed you. They call me a fat c**t.” And then the two made plans to have lunch at ASA.

Soc Twitter, at its finest.
