On The Run is fiction in my book .Having worked in the law for years I struggle to believe even 5% of her observations of law enforcement tactics.
i have no law enforcement background and i could wholly agree with this.
just as a woman who comes from a neighborhood like this i find it impossible to believe she wasn't f**king these men while living with them. like the book actually irritates me in her cloying attempts to convince the reader that they found her such an exceptionally cool white woman.
alice is not cool. at all. it's actually uncomfortable having a conversation with her bc she always seems on the verge of tears. i'm supposed to believe that a group of young black men she only knew thru tutoring their little brother just found her SUCH AN ALLY that they were like "you, white savior, are going to be one of us"
