better salary then ucla?
At least comparable. And then consider the housing market, it's a clearly good moveHahaha he’s already whining about the Atlanta housing market just like he did about the LA housing market.
Good luck to you, future colleagues of S. Michael!

Dude is gonna have to live with the bIacks or straight up MAGA people if he wants affordable housing in Atlanta. Looking forward to his tone deaf tweets from Atlanta about how all of the p\i\g f\*\c\k\i\n\g and lack of 5 bed, 3 bath houses for under 200k is culture shock to him.

He's not bluffing. He emailed some colleagues and students last week to say goodbye. Sounds like he's going to have an easier job in a more affordable city where he already has friends and family. I believe he got a large salary increase too. This seems like a great move.

Others definitely unhappy and looking around. UCLA compensation at the junior/young senior level is not good enough for the COL in the area. People clowned SMG for complaining, but he wasn't wrong. The gap between what seniors make and juniors is huge and the seniors got to buy their properties decades ago before this housing gold rush.
UCLA lost two young tenured people in two years. And it seems like others are unhappy too. What is going on there?
