I would keep it if you're comfortable with it. Ultimately, there are so many things that go into hiring. The most important criteria are usually, "is this person a good scholar?" and "would they be a fun person to have around?" The job search can be pretty stressful, so I think it's better to just keep it and maybe trim it up.

Not sure where some of you made a wrong turn and started pointing out all the sociologists who have facial hair, but the question was about job interviews.
Also, Paul Roof still owns the best Sociology beard competition. Only sociologist on a beer can that I know of.
