Sounds like admin basically told her you're clearly not well, your social media behavior has opened us up to lawsuits, so do not come back next year or at any point thereafter, and we'll give you a paid year plus benefits.
?It was definitely a hard decision to make?
That's my takeaway from it. In all fairness to her she does have a good enough publication record for tenure, so it's not like she was going to be denied because she isn't publishing enough. But if you consider her leaving her job out of nowhere, not sharing any details as to why she's leaving despite oversharing everything, her looking to go on the job market during the 2021-2022 cycle, and deleting her Tik Tok, it becomes pretty clear that administration has had enough of her. So because her social media presence and actions in general make her a walking lawsuit, they gave her two options: leave quietly with severance pay, or we'll find a way to get rid of you/not renew your year-to-year pre-tenure contract.
