Not the one in my department. Despite having no chance to have ever gotten that job had she been white, she acts as if she is the best, most deserving, & hardest working, and whines constantly about her victimization and demands we listen but also chides us for asking her to teach us.

It's incredibly vague and not beholden to evidence and logic.

No, diversity hires pretty much all think they earned it because they "worked hard". Just like everyone else in every field, no matter what advantages they had.

it's not a privileged hire, because as you said, you assume he is not as smart as his colleagues. So he prob had to do more to distinguish himself bc of people like you. You're probably assuming the wealth part too, just so you can ignore ways he may be marginalized outside of race and gender.

Nowadays, yes, but folks who are beneficiaries of race/ethnic AA at the faculty level have also usually already benefitted multiple times from admissions and fellowship/scholarship programs at earlier levels, so they are very used to the idea that part of their job is to be [their race/ethnic group].

Those are not diversity points unfortunately. Even they are, according to signaling theory, you still need a way to clearly signal those (in a straightforward and credible way) on your cv and personal website, which is NOT easy. Definitely not as easy as putting up a profile picture to signal your race.

You may want to make sure you have a clue before chiming in. Having a job and tenure etc does not make someone a "privilege hire" according to the definition given by previous poster.

And who's the re/tard? The post I responded to said "literally almost every prof." Did you really think "everybody" refererad to anything else than "every prof" given the topic at hand. Your reading comprehension is, well, not great. Let me spell that out for you; not great=bad.

Yes. Because white colleagues will be sure to tell the hire they were hired due to diversity and that this somehow makes them less than, regardless of how productive the hire actually ends up being.
