This is such B S. Nearly everyone in soc is a lefty. But some of us are trying to do actual science over here, which means you try your best to honestly account for your priors.
Let me see if I understand. Scientists at UCR i n s u l t their department colleagues, saying they are not normal, not well intentioned and not intelligent. They believe that even believing in r a c I s m is activist work. As is trying to have a departmental workplace that is not fueled by r a c I s m. And the activist scholars have priors that influence their work but that they themselves don’t have.

Another thing that is famous about UCR's dysfunction is how the faculty try to get the grad students to fight little proxy wars on their behalf by telling them how awful the faculty on the other side are. Grad students are so easy to manipulate that this is not hard to do.
