The editor of Fem Crim desk rejected a response to Burt's article. The Board has rejected proposals for a symposium to discuss Burt's article. In meantime, O'Neal stepped down from the DWC exec board but remains on Diversity subcommittee & is recommending that members who want to support her donate cash to the Diversity committee. It's all hilarious & Bravo-ready.
ASC Division of Women and Crime embroiled in major controversy

Eryn oneal is a giant mess and unfortunately, she actively works to discredit crim as a discipline though she imagines herself as a hero and protector of the BIPOC + LGBT. Half expecting her to have a complete meltdown and leave the professorate one of these days sooner than later.

Why not have a symposium? That would be the scholarly thing to do, as well as great fun. Chick fights are always amusing.

Why did they reject a symposium and response?

Why did they reject a symposium and response?
i would imagine because the proposal was a disaster that would potentially do some damage to the journal's reputation?seems convenient for the crowd who is always about the need for intellectual exchange of controversial papers

^Thanks for sharing this. Isn't this all the more reason to go forward with a special issue or a symposium? If she wavers, she wavers-- it suggests there isn't much merit to her ideas (or, perhaps there is and someone else can champion it for her) but that doesn't mean they should not get a sound & public vetting.

To the best of my recollection: The deleted post came from someone who indicated they are "on the inside of this" and that the Board decided not to go forward with a symposium when they saw that Callie Burt was "wavering." The post also indicated that Burt is a person who has a history of starting fires and running from them. The examples the poster gave included not answering phone/emails, failing to show up at conferences, and not appearing at designated meetings.

Why did they reject a symposium and response? In all my experiences comments are not peer reviewed; ergo, desk rejection or accept are the options.
Maybe the response was s**te; reading their complaints, I would not doubt it. -

Running from fires? You sound like you're full of horse/s**t. Jealous much?
Does anyone answer phone calls these days? I don't. -

she waivers from what? You actually believe anything people write on here? she writes like someone who welcomes debate.

r arguments, so we are going to make up stuff about her professionalism, b
My best guess is the Editor & the Board shut down avenues for debate & exchange to avoid criticism that they are ill-equipped (due to intellectual deficiencies) to respond to.
I heard that the journal had accepted a response. If so, the grievance crews claims look inane. Can anyone confirm?
