Postdoc here. I'd rather not pay full price for my ASA membership (and conference registration). What are the norms about signing up for the "student" level? Is it a s**tty thing to do? FWIW, my postdoc pays about 1.5x my phd stipend, but the jump in membership fee from student to "regular affiliate" is like 3x, even for my income group.
ASA membership level for postdocs?

You want someone to tell you it's okay to be dis/honest? Done. Be my guest.
Basically. Or rather, is being dishonest what everybody else does in this situation? I don't mind lying if it's harmless and "the norm." But I'd rather not be dishonest if I'm making an exception for myself while everyone one else is doing "the right thing."

Just do it. I did the exact thing when I was a postdoc, even reached to a conference out of uncertainty like you are dealing with and the response was nobody will ever know.
