Every time a profession gets whyte-women-feminized, it declines in stature and influence and power. That's partially due to discrim, yes, but a LOT of it has to do with how they change the profession.
Are women destroying sociology?

I can think of a few male sociologists (Mitchell Duneier, Douglas Massey, Alejandro Portes), but they're older. Among the younger cohort it's getting harder and harder to think of anyone really prominent (and known to non-sociologists) who's a man.
Portes retired years ago.

If you ask me, the way feminism is used in sociology is a very academic one. Most of those feminist sociologists never knew what activism was. So it goes like they read twitter ideas, retweet and think like/support/followers show that they are right. In our times, never learn feminism from a sociologists woman. They don't even know anything about feminist theory.
As a result, with thee ad hominems like “old whyt men,” they are ruining the scholarship and standards of theoretical depth.

Best advice: IGN0re Them. They will try to sabotage you as advisers and colleagues. If you continue to publish good work in good journals (that are generally not theirs), u are fine. Focus on your work and do not publish in their cliquey journals like gender and soc. Go publish at qualitative sociology etc

I’m interviewing somewhere with several men in their women’s studies department. I can think of a few specialists from my grad school days. Though not in my grad program. In all my years in grad school, we only had two students specialize in gender. It just wasn’t a topic.

I agree with the activist part. A lot of them claim to be activists, and anyone whose ever done any activism knows the first rule is that you... don't brag about being an activist because the people who want to be the face of the movement are usually doing it for cynical and selfish reasons.

And activists generally do not sabotage their colleagues. Life is solidarity for them. Most who call themselves activists wanna sabotage whayt men or others they do not like
