   Hang in there. Been there, the waiting game is not fun at all. But no, don't contact them and assume you didn't get the job. If you hear back anytime soon, it will be a nice surprise.

   Yeah - through January postdocs are being turned down by folks taking TT jobs, so you may be on the waiting list and therefore just standing by for these other timelines.

   It's not rude but it's sometimes awkward. Like, chances are someone else got the offer but hasn't taken it yet so you're not out of the running. Sometimes SC not allowed to say that though, so imo, might as well just wait

   I disagree with everyone OP. Simple non-apologetic email asking where they are in the process. If you don't have other offers, say you do just cuz... get your answer.
