Lol, still trying to justify hat $40k is an acceptable salary for someone with a PhD. It is not.
Not a single person here has said $40k is a lot of money. Why do economists keep coming in here claiming that's what was said? The argument isn't about who makes more money. The argument was whether or not $40k is poverty or not. Any actual sociologist would not be making this argument as every intro textbook on earth breaks down what actual poverty is.
And who cares if you make six figures? That's what you get for being a corporate lackey.
You might want to retake your first grade reading class. Arguing $40k isn't poverty isn't the same thing as saying it's an acceptable salary for a PhD.
You might want to retake yours. The argument for the last several pages hasn’t been regarding the technical definition of poverty, the argument has been about whether $40k is 1) poor, 2) enough to live reasonably well on, and 3) an acceptable salary for someone with a PhD. Since you can’t be bothered to read the most recent several pages, I’ll inform you of the answers: yes; no; no.
I’m beginning to see why you all get paid so little. See you at the afternoon Starbucks shift on my way home from the country club! If you’re lucky, I might put my change in the tip jar.
